Resume Tips
Recruiters skim a resume in seconds, and most large employers filter with an ATS (applicant tracking system) first. These tips help you pass both.
1. Tailor it to the job
Mirror the language of the job description. If the posting asks for “data pipelines” and “Airflow”, use those exact terms where they’re true for you.
2. Lead with impact, not duties
Start bullets with a strong verb and quantify the result: “Cut build times 40% by…” beats “Responsible for builds.”
3. Beat the ATS
- Use a clean, single-column layout — no tables or text boxes for key info.
- Include the exact keywords and skills from the posting.
- Save as a PDF unless the employer asks for .docx.
4. Keep it tight
One page for under ~10 years of experience, two at most. Cut anything older than 10–15 years or irrelevant to the role.
5. Proofread ruthlessly
Typos are the fastest way to the “no” pile. Read it aloud, and have someone else check it.
